Message from the President of the Republic Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Victory Day.

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a message on Monday on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Victory Day, of which here is the APS translation:
“In the name of Allah, Clement and Merciful, Prayer and peace be upon His Messenger,
Fellow citizens, fellow citizens,
On March 19, we celebrate Victory Day, a solemn national occasion where we remember with pride the bitter struggle and immeasurable sacrifices of the Algerian people for freedom during the glorious War of Liberation, which was crowned with independence and the recovery of national sovereignty, after the agonies and trials endured by the people with patience and resilience.
This occasion, the 62nd anniversary of which we celebrate today, marks a pivotal stage after a long journey of national struggle within the National Movement and an armed struggle of seven and a half years, during which the Algerian people paid a heavy price with legions of martyrs, a struggle which remains engraved in history as one of the greatest epics of defense of freedom and dignity of the modern era.
The dawn of Algeria's independence emerged from this historic event, after more than one hundred and thirty years of colonial domination, to destroy the illusion of +French Algeria+ to which the colonizers clung, but which ended up understanding, and the world with them, that the brave revolutionaries who faced the machine of war and destruction and the scorched earth policy with the determination of valiant fighters, sealed their destiny: death as martyrs or victory.

As we celebrate, this March 19, the anniversary of Victory Day to renew the commitment made to the valiant Chouhada, we are more than ever determined to move forward, in the new Algeria, to achieve the objectives set out by the perpetual message of November, thus strengthening national sovereignty and the independence of national decision, by working tirelessly and vigorously to raise our national economy to the levels of efficiency and competitiveness, but also by striving to maintain the character social security of the State through continuous consolidation of unprecedented achievements made on a large scale with a view to ensuring a dignified life and preserving the dignity of citizens.

We are celebrating this memorable anniversary in a regional and international situation which calls for the combined efforts of everyone to unify the ranks, strengthen the domestic front and prioritize priorities according to a national strategic perspective, based on the need to fully assume responsibilities faced with the challenges facing our country, at their head is the concern to preserve the broad collective contribution to the preservation of the stability enjoyed by the Algerian people in an environment marked by tensions which threaten peace and security in the region and in a world rife with complex conflicts, struggles and polarizations.

On this occasion, I would like to salute the citizens for their high national awareness and I welcome the commendable efforts of the actors of the associative movement and civil society. I also pay vibrant tribute to the valiant men who watch over our borders among the members of the People's National Army (ANP), as well as to the security forces who ensure peace and serenity in society, showing the utmost great vigilance in the accomplishment of their noble missions.
I join them all in bowing to the memory of the martyrs of national duty and the martyrs of the glorious Revolution of Liberation, and I express all my consideration and all my esteem to my Moudjahidate sisters and Mujahideen brothers, renewing to them , on the occasion of this blessed month of Ramadhan, my best wishes. May God accept your fasting and prayers.
